How can I change the background color of the html email?

Normal you van change it by setting it in the body tag:

eg. body bgcolor="#CCCCCC" style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px">

I i'm looking in the sourec code of the send email, I can't find anything about the body tag. Even not the HTML headers?

Please help.

The first DIV is usually used to create a background color so by editing the source code of your Newsletter (or your template), you will be able to change it.

For one of the default template, it's:
<div style="background-color: #e2e8df; font-size: 100%; font-family: Tahoma,Geneva,Kalimati,sans-serif; color: #8a8a8a; width: 100%;">

so you can change the background-color.

Thanks, I first thought that this was a solution, but it's not.

The given example (and also the template) is not showing the background-color in outlook 2007.

Also when the mail showed on full screen, the background is not totally filled.

If I compare it with other mailing, most of them is using
<body bgcolor="#ffcc00" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">

The background of my mailing needs to be orange. Even when it's showed full screen.

The newsletter can you seen on: Newsletters

Please advice.

Depending on your wysiwyg editor, you will be able to include your body tag in your Newsletter to do whatever you want (sometimes this tag is stripped by the editor so it really depends on your editor)

I'm using JCE. Is there a way that it will not strip out?

Also is it normal not nessesary to add the htm header section to an html email?

Another question to this subject: why is the background not orange when I'm using Outlook 2007? Even not with the standard template.

I did some more test. When I'm using in outlook 2007 the option show in browser, the mail is showed with a orange background.

Output in email message:

Any idea what's going wrong?

btw, I like the program more that acajoom and will promote it to all my customers as soon as I solved the issue above.

No, it's not necessary.
If you check an Html e-mails sent by your own mail system (Outlook, GMail...), they won't include any body tag in your e-mail.

I know Outlook 2007 is a nightmare for CSS but I'm sure the CSS property background-color is supported by this mail client.
Did you try it with the body tag or with the div tag?

Thanks for the quick response.

I used the div tag. and it seems not be working. The bodytag is not working with JCE. If you hav an idea please help. Isn't there away I can add it in the code?

Even your templates are not showed correctly in Outlook 2007.

If you subscribe, I can send you an test email.

You can temporary turn off your editor on the AcyMailing configuration page to enable you to add the body tag.

Wow you always keep me surprising a so fast you answering questions. Very good.

That working. But from customer perspective not a friendly solution.

Every time a user is making the newsletter, the body tag is removed when editor is turned off. I can't sell such a solution to my customers.

Is there a better way to solve such issue? I think of dynamically add the body tag on the moment when the mail is send out. Is this possible?

I agree, it's perfect to do some tests but it's not a solution at all, just a quick workaround.

Indeed that would be possible.
But I'm surprised the div solution does not work as we successfully tested it.
The benefit of this solution (using a div) is that your content will be W3C compliant on the archive section and that the right color will be displayed inside your wysiwyg editor.
I'm afraid I won't be able to create the same result with a body tag... except if we make it dynamic to automatically take the background-color of the first element we find, that could be a good solution.

If you telling me the div tag should work, could you tell me why it's not working for me in outlook 2007? Did I do something wrong?

An other disadvantage could be that not the whole screen is orange only the area where the table is fitting in. Or did I do something wrong?

other solution is to add a parameter in backend where you can put the inline style for a body tag. So everybody can decide by himself what he want's to have in the tag.

Well, we should not have much differences as the div is width 100% so I remember we had quite the same results.
Would you mind to add the begin of your html code with the div so I can have a quick look at it to make sure there is not something wrong in it?

I actually like this solution.
We could add an other parameter in the template edition where you can specify a style which will be applied to the "body" tag.
And if you don't specify anything we don't add the body tag.

Any idea when the solution could be in place? You speaking about the template version i guess this means all versions except the free version?

Could you please add a width:100% in your first div :
<div style="background-color: #f8981d; width:100%; font-size: 100%; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #0079c2;">

I could not test on Outlook here but that should be much better.

You can manage your AcyMailing templates with the free version too.
If we add it, it will be in all our versions.

There is no definitive date but we planned a new release for middle of January.
It will depend on the bugs! :)
If we find bugs, we will release before this date.

The preview on the browser works properly but if you say that the background-color on Outlook 2007 is not good, I believe you!
So I guess the best way will be to add a body tag and give the possibility to add style to it.
