In fact, I would like to send a coupon, users who want to.

I thought like this, but I do not know how...

1. Create a campaign.
2. Put a button somewhere that I want Joomla article or module. (How?)
3. When the user clicks on this button, the user will be sent an e-mail with the coupon. (Of course, the user must have subscribed)

You could directly include your coupon code inside your campaign...
We have plugins for that for VirtueMart and HikaShop.

If you don't it to be sent inside the first e-mail, you could create a button with a link based on a subscription via url...

So that if the user clicks on it, he will be subscribed to an other list and in that list you should set up a new campaign or a welcome message and the user will receive the coupon.

If the JomSocial plugin for AcyMailing is enabled (from the Acy configuration page), you can insert JomSocial user information in your Newsletter.

Hello,

You can apply the style you want on the tag directly so the replaced text will have the same style.

barcode font may not be standard so it won't be displayed well on all mail clients, you should rather choose a common font.

I've just started testing Acymailing and have a similar problem as I would also like to insert Coupon codes into my newsletters. I don't use any VirtueMart or other similar things.

I created a db table and generated codes into there. Then wrote a code snippet which is able to randomly query one code. In db coupon-code-table the status of the coupon will be "sent" then this could hopefully will not be re-sent again.

The main question is how can I refer to the output(coupon code) of my code snippet to insert it into the newsletter(s)? (and keep it random on each subscriber as the snippet do it on page refresh.)

In your opinion what would be the easiest way to do it? (My snippet is out of MVC)

I've also tried to put my code into a php module and insert it into the newsletter but nothing is displayed. When tried to insert an article which referred to a php file only the include url displayed.

As I've seen it is possible to create some custom tags for AcyMailing could it be the way?

Hi,

The easiest way (for a developer of course!) would be to create a small AcyMailing module to replace your tag by the right value:

You will need the "acymailing_replaceusertags(&$email,&$user,$send=true)" function only which is triggered for each user just before sending or previewing the message.

Meanwhile I followed the same documentation you sent. Started from the example plugin and investigated the existing plugins as well.

The difference is I modified the acymailing_replacetags() instead of acymailing_replaceusertags() you mentioned by now.

The results were that I got the code successfully but it was the same in each newsletter I sent out instead of being different.

So what do you think in case I'm gonna use acymailing_replaceusertags() function will I get different codes in each sent newsletter? Or how would it be possible to set different codes for each subscribers?(In one newsletter sending)

(At the acymailing_replacetags() I includes my code which query the database then I set a value for the code.)

Hello,

acymailing_replaceusertags will be triggered for each e-mail sent (so once per Newsletter and per user)
acymailing_replacetags will be triggered only once per Newsletter (when we "prepare" it).

In your case, simply use acymailing_replaceusertags instead of acymailing_replacetags and you're done.

Are there any flag variables which indicates the Preview event and Send event separately and can be reached in acymailing_replaceusertags() function? (Preview/Send button clicked or the Send Button fired.)

Asking because when I'm sending out newsletters including the codes, I need to set the status of the code to "sent" in my database table.
In case I place my UPDATE statement in the acymailing_replaceusertags() function, the update runs on every preview display, which is bad.

You should use the third parameter "$send" for that.
If it's set to true it means the Newsletter will be sent.
If set to false then it's for a preview.

Hi Adrien,

Is it possible to disable sending button in preview mode in case there is nothing to insert into a tag?
Tried to set $send=false; but it didn't work.
Also tried to modify the line acymailing_replaceusertags(&$email,&$user,$send=true){}
to remove =true and give value to $send variable inside the function if a variable is not null, set it true otherwise set it false, but it didn't work, I still can send out mails.

Hi,

You can remove the subject in your plugin, a Newsletter with an empty subject can not be sent:
$email->subject = '';

Dear Adrien,

Realized when you clicks the URL called "This email contains graphics, so if you don't see them,view it in your browser" in the newsletter received, it opens a similar newsletter in browser but generates a new one. It means in my case that a new coupon code is displayed (differs from the newsletter received in mailbox), which is bad.

Is there any way to display the same newsletter in browser?

Hello,

AcyMailing does not save the content of each Newsletter sent.
In that case you can either NOT display the coupon code (as it's with the $send=false parameter) or find a way to display the same you already sent (based on the subscriber ID for example)

For our VM plugin, we don't display the coupon code on the online version.
In your case you may replace it by a message like "please check your e-mail to see your coupon code" or something like that.

How is it possible to add a parameter to {readonline}{/readonline} as it can indicate that voucher code shouldn't be displayed (it is opened in browser)?

Can you please let me know where can I find that piece of code which generates the online version? Maybe there I could display a message as you mentioned.

The browser version has a bit different style, it should also be fixed. (For example h1 title formatting lost, and text which had background color is shifted so the bg color is over the text by one line.)

Hi,

Please use the $send parameter we included in the function.
If !$send then don't display your coupon and add a J! message.
You can also do the test on JApplication::isAdmin() to check if you are on the back-end (so on the back-end preview) or on the front-end (so the online version of the Newsletter or the archive version).
You have everything you need to apply the behaviour you want.
